Volunteering at Homemakers South Wales

Volunteers Awards Day 2006
Volunteers Awards Day 2006

Our volunteers come from all different backgrounds and we operate an equal opportunities policy. We have volunteers who use their experiences with Homemakers to advance into full-time employment others enjoy just learning new skills and being active. Volunteers can experience and learn a wide range of skills including collecting furniture, customer service skills, administration support and practical workshop skills.

Owen 21, Abergavenny.  “Having been unemployed for a long period of time I joined Homemakers' as a volunteer after being put in touch via an employment agency."  "Having gained experienced and confidence within the workplace, I managed to get a full-time job.” “I have a lot to thank Homemakers for.”

Ceri Hughes Richards 33, Brecon. “Homemakers has allowed me to meet new people and has given me stability in my life. It also keeps me busy and has been of great benefit to me in a time when I have had problems through mental health issues”.

John 32, Newbridge. "Volunteering has helped me build my self esteem after a very low period in my life."  "I look forward to going to work and has added purpose to my life."

Homemakers also provides work for mental health patients at Ty Gwyn Hospital as part of their occupational theory.
